E-Star Colorado Program
E-Star Colorado Program
Colorado's E-Star program is the state's home energy rating system, operated by Energy Rated Homes of Colorado. E-Star's primary goal is to promote energy efficiency in residential buildings. The program trains and certifies independent contractors, called energy raters, to evaluate the energy efficiency of homes. E-Star certified raters run a battery of tests on a constructed home, then input the data into a computer modeling system to determine an energy rating on a scale from 1 to 100. This energy rating serves as an independent third-party verification of a home's energy efficiency.
